Currencies

Northern Ireland is legislatively part of the U.K. and sterling is the currency. However the Republic of Ireland (Ireland) is part of the EU and the euro is the currency.

If you are travelling through Ireland you will need some euros. If in the North only you will need sterling.

I do find something like a Monzo card that allows me to pay in either currency without exchange penalties to be very useful and ease stress. There are a number on the market to choose from. Debit and credit cards are widely accepted but I do find a small amount of cash to be useful too.

“Belfast is alive with culture and entertainment, from festivals and live music, to world class attractions….and everything in between!

There is something for the whole family to enjoy!”
